Match Report
Yarm School Girls-U12A vs  Durham School
On: Saturday, 11 Nov 2017
Venue: Away

This was a frustrating game for the girls as they were the dominant team throughout but, unlike most games this season, we were not clinical enough in front of goal. We started the game well creating a number of great chances but we hit them all straight at the goalkeeper. Eventually we did make the breakthrough thanks to a lovely bit of play from Emma Foster in midfield to set up India Dunkin who finished well into the bottom corner of the goal. We took our foot off the gas after taking the lead and this gave Durham the chance to get back into the game. They started to have some joy in wide positions which is where their equaliser came from. They worked it well down the right hand side and after a bit of a pinball in the D they were first to the loose ball and swept the ball home to make the score 1-1. We picked up our intensity again with Kayla Roberts working hard up front to make something happen. Then against the run of play Durham won a short corner on the break and finished it well to take a 2-1 lead. In the second half we had a lot of possession but we weren't moving the ball as quickly and precisely as we normally do meaning we found it hard to break down the Durham defence. We were equally hard to break down in the second half, thanks to some strong defending from Piya Nag and Rosie Faulkner, meaning no goals were scored in the second half and the game finished 2-1 to Durham. A disappointing day in front of goal meant we weren't able to get the result we wanted but we know we can play better than this particular performance and will look to get back to winning ways next weekend.

FT Result: 2-1 loss PoM: India Dunkin
