Match Report
Yarm School Girls-U13B vs  Egglescliffe Sc
On: Wednesday, 11 Oct 2017
Venue: Away

The girls were looking to build on the good result against Queen Margarets at the weekend and got off to the best possible start. We immediately put the pressure on Egglescliffe and won possession high up the field. Annabel Cunningham fed the ball into Immy Slack who finished from the top of the 'D' to give us the lead just one minute into the game. Although we continued to dominate the game we were wasteful in front of goal and weren't able to add to our lead before half time.

We started the second half with a much higher intensity and were able to score just two minutes into the half thanks to a lovely strike into the bottom corner from Romilly Nichols. As the half went on the game became more and more open, with Egglescliffe struggling to contain how quickly we broke up the field following fantastic defensive work from Ava Lane and Aishani Paul. Midway through the second half Romilly took full advantage of the time and space she was given and drove up the pitch with a strong, direct run before finishing past the keeper to score her second of the game. At this point in the game we lost our shape, leaving our defence vulnerable and Egglescliffe started to have a few chances of their own. Anna Heward was called into action for the first time and made a string of good saves from close range shots to maintain our clean sheet. We were able to regain control of the game and put the pressure on the Egglescliffe defence once again. As the game went into the final few minutes the ball broke free in the 'D' and Romilly was the first to react and swept the ball past the keeper to complete her hat-trick. On the whole this was a strong performance from the girls with lots of positives to take forward into the second half of the season.
