Match Report
Yarm School Mixed-U16A vs  Stockton Schools
On: Thursday, 07 Dec 2017
Venue: Away

We took 49 pupils to Preston Park to run in the Stockton Schools cross country championships. With 15 schools present it was a big event with around 100 runners in each race. In perfect weather conditions all our runners were raring to go in their new vests.

The u16 boys were first off and delighted to hear that because of the course conditions their race distance had been reduced to 3000m. Dominic Shipman took full advantage of this and romped home in 1st place. Our second runner home Conall Deane, running a year young, finished a very credible 18th.

The U16 girls team ran brilliantly with 7 runners and recorded the following results;

Lucy Jones finished 3rd, Estelle Matthews 4th, Ellie Vayro 5th, Rach Murray 7th, Lucy Hattersley 10th, Scout Peveril 11th and Caitlin Donaldson 12th which gives them a fantastic team total of 52 . At this point we do not have the overall results from the organisers but I would suggest they will be crowned Stockton Champions comfortably.

The U14's also put in fantastic performances.

For the girls Anna Reeves finished 2nd, Sophie Brining 4th, Ruth Fletcher 11th, Emily Dunn 12th, Charlotte Rutter 18th, Evie Clinkard 20th, Olivia Fletcher 24th and Romilly Nicholls 29th. So they finish with a total of 120. Once again I believe this result will put them in contention.

In the U14 boy's race Josh Littler finished 5th, Conall Lacy 9th, Matthew Howden 10th Lucas Mowbray 11th, Alistair Cropp 24th, Alex Wild 26th, Matthew Heathcote 29th and Aidan Garcia 51st. They finished with the best boys overall team total of 165.

The U12 team was fabulous and Gabbi Hall won the entire race and was 200m clear of the next runner! Emma Foster was 3rd, Danielle Devlin was 10th, Isoble Le Clerc was 11th, India Dunkin was 14th, Kayla Roberts was 15th, Lily Harte 18th, Maisy Bailey 23rd.

Their total was 95. Once again this team result is undoubtedly going to put them top in terms of school teams.

The U12 boys set off hot on the heels of the girls aiming to follow their lead. Tom Graham gave it a good try to copy Gabbi but he was just piped at the post into 2nd place. Charlie Thompson and Jacob Rutter also finished in the top 10 in 6th and 9th respectively.

All those pupils who finished in the top 10 have automatically been selected for the Stockton team that will run in Stewart's Park in the New Year in the County Championships. Well done however to all runners who did the school and themselves proud. A great afternoon of sport!
