Match Report
Yarm School Girls-U13A vs  District Tournament
On: Wednesday, 22 Feb 2017
Venue: Away

With only 4 schools in the whole of Stockton entering this district tournament it was a poor turn out. The girls had a brief warm up before the start of their first match against All Saints school. The matches were 8 minutes each way and as this is a short match it is important to start well, which is what we did as we scored quickly from our first centre. This game was our good first win as the final score was 8-0 but with the cold setting in it only made playing conditions more difficult as the tournament progressed. With hands and fingers freezing cold many balls were dropped from all teams. Our next match against Red House was a tougher game and although we had most of the possession we could not covert this and the final score was 2-2. We knew at this point we needed to win our next match against Egglescliffe convincingly and by as many goals as we could whilst trying not to concede any, this was because if both ourselves and Red House won, it would come down to goal difference. This is exactly what happened, we beat Egglescliffe 7-0 however Red House beat their last opponent 16-1 which unfortunately gave them the title of district champions. The girls played well and need to be proud of their efforts on such a cold afternoon.
