Match Report
Yarm School Girls-U12B vs  District Tournament
On: Wednesday, 08 Mar 2017
Venue: Away

The tourament at Egglescliffe School started with a match against All Saints who looked strong in warm up. Despite a chaotic start the girls settled into the game making quick passes around the opposition to the D where both Gerogia Charnley and Kitty Foden were ready to score. This match finished 2-1 to Yarm putting us in a good position for our second match against the hosts Egglescliffe School. This was a great game for all team members. Accurate passing and quick movement down the court by Annabel Cunningham, Romilly Nichols and Divya Hukkeri allowed most of the play to remain in our attacking third. This coupled with the almost faultless shooting of Georgia meant a solid 5-1 win. The third match against Ian Ramsay was very evenly fought by both sides. Our defence were tested and all stepped up. Yumna Ellidir, Siya Puthuraya and Ella Brent put in an excellent performance and kept the score sheet clean for Yarm. This match finished up 1-0, bagging a third win. The final group stage match was against a rather tall Our Lady Saint Bedes team. This proved challenging for the girls as passing overhead was no longer an option and, in the panic the ball, was turned over numerous times! Unfortunately this was a key factor in our first loss of the day finishing 2-1 down.

Coming second in our group meant we faced a tough Teesside High team in the semi-final however unphased, the girls were raring to go. Everyteam member worked extremely hard, particularly Elise Wilcock in defence, with Yarm keeping most of the possession of the ball thoughout the match. Unfortunately, pressure got the better of the girls and the shooting wasn't quite up to the mark on this occassion - despite numerous chances, the ball just wouldn't go in the net! Teesside High scored from their few opportunities which was the clincher, meaning a final score of 2-1 to Teesside.

The work ethic and team spirit of every girl was fantastic and the improvements that each individual player has made since the start of the season is commendable. You did yourselves, your coaches and your school proud girls - well done!
