Match Report
Yarm School Girls-U12A vs  Tournament at Barnard Castle
On: Thursday, 09 Mar 2017
Venue: Away

The U12s travelled to a very sunny Barnard Castle to play in the annual invitational tournament. They were drawn in a tough group, with their hardest match against RGS first. The girls never really settled into their rhythm in this match, and came away with a 2-0 loss. The next game saw them take on Queen Mary's, where the girls played their own game and the shooters were excellent, allowing the girls to win 6-2. The final group match was against Austin Friars, in which the girls played lovely, flowing netball and came away as winners with a score of 5-2. These results saw them placed 2nd in the group, putting them into the semi-final against the winners of the other group, St Olaves. Unfortunately the girls missed some chances and came into half time 2-0 down. The girls rallied in the second half to score 2 goals of their own, but Olaves didn't let the pressure drop and Yarm lost 5-2. The final match of the afternoon saw the girls face Barnard Castle in the 3rd - 4th place final. The girls won this in fine style, to come away from the tournament in 3rd place. St Olaves were eventual winners of the tournament, so credit to the girls for giving them such a tough game. We congratulate the girls on their attitudes throughout the tournament and their unwillingness to give up. Well played girls!
