Match Report
Yarm School 1st XI vs  Durham School
On: Monday, 02 Oct 2017
Venue: Away

This was a well deserved first win of the season for this team, and it was nothing less than what the performance deserved. We made a strong start to game with some nice link up play between our midfield and forward lines. We opened the scoring following a lovely bit of play between Amy Booth and Susie Dunn around the top of the 'D' resulting in Amy Booth getting a shot off at goal that was deflected in superbly by Phoebe White. After controlling much of the early possession and taking the lead we lost our composure somewhat. We found ourselves short in defence on a number of occasions and they punished us on the counter attack by scoring twice to turn the game on its head. We were heading into half time a goal down until Lois MacKey popped up with a goal at a crucial time to level the game up. The girls responded well to the half time team talk and tightened up at the back whilst looking much more confident and composed in possession. We put Durham under a tremendous amount of pressure in the final few minutes and it looked as though they would hold strong. That was until a wonderful bit of play from Phoebe created a chance for Lucy Skelton to win us the game, which she took with both hands to give us a 3-2 win. It was a top class team performance that gave us the win that the girls needed and thoroughly deserved!

Result: 3-2 win POM: Phoebe White
