Yarm School 1st XI vs  Dame Allens
On: Wednesday, 29 Nov 2017
Venue: at Home

The 1st XI got back to winning ways this week against Dame Allens. We started the game as the better of the two sides, keeping possession nicely in the midfield. However, we were holding onto the ball a little too long meaning we weren't able to break down the Dame Allens defence. Although we had the majority of possession in the opening exchanges it was Dame Allens who took the lead. We lost possession in midfield allowing them to break onto us and once inside the D they squared the ball to a free player on the back post who put it away to make the score 1-0. We worked hard to find an equaliser before half time but much of our play was down the centre of the pitch meaning we were repeatedly crowded out and had to build again. Amy Booth and Susie Dunn did manage to put some good balls into the D but no one was able to get on the end of them meaning the half ended with us 1-0 down.

In the second half we improved our movement in attack, which allowed us to work the ball out wide. This opened up gaps in the Dame Allens defence and we were able to win a short corner. A well rehearsed routine was executed perfectly and resulted in a goal for Susie Dunn to make the score 1-1. We were much more solid in defence now and this allowed us to apply more sustained pressure in the search for a second goal. It didn't take us long to find it with Lois Mackey applying the finish to put us 2-1 up. We didn't rest on our lead and looked for another goal. It came from Lois with just minutes left for her second and our third of the game. Amy Booth provided the pass of the season from the half way line into the D. Lois didn't have to break stride; she took one touch and finished into the bottom corner. A wonderful goal to end the scoring, with the match ending 3-1.

FT Result: 3-1 win PoM: Amy Booth
