Match Report
Yarm School 1st VII vs  Challenge Cup Tournament
On: Tuesday, 26 Sep 2017
Venue: Away

The U19 Challenge Cup is a County tournament organised by England netball and this is entered by schools and colleges. The girls had 8 matches to play against teams of varying abilities. Our first match was against Hartlepool 6th Form and this was a close match straight for the first whistle. We held our own centres and managed to score from one of theirs which made the difference as the final score was 4-3 to Yarm. The next few games against Bede, Egg A, Teesside High, Egg B, Kings Academy and Carmel were easily won with scores ranging from 11-0 to 5-2. Our final game was against Barnard Castle and from previous years of playing them we knew this would be a tough game. Barney took the lead from the first centre quickly and it seemed to take us a while to get a hold of the game. With the score at 3-1 to Barney we stepped up to the challenge by making interceptions throughout the court and turning over the ball numerous times to gain the advantage. The girls played so well and came away with the win of 5-4 to Yarm. The girls were undefeated and this will be the 3rd year in a row that we have won this tournament.

Our next challenge will be this weekend on the 7th October where we play the County round of the National Schools Competition at Grangefield School.
