Yarm Boys U13A v Ampleforth College What a win! Saturday 30th September brought lots of new things, like getting to school later than 9 o’clock, winning away to Ampleforth and scoring a hole heap of tries! First third After winning the toss we chose to receive. We quickly scored, with Caspar running ¾ of the pitch to score. After a good bit of play Ampleforth scored twice, but Lucas went on an amazing run, sidestepping most of their team to score. In the final play of this third Ampleforth scored again, leaving us trailing by 1. Second third We kicked to start the second third. Already half way into their half we won the ball and Alex scored to level things up. Shortly after, after some good passing, Caspar scored again to put us one ahead. Then Lucas scored again, putting us ahead by 2. Then Ampleforth scored again. I was tackled but managed to keep the ball and I scored. Then Josh picked the ball from the back of the scrum and scored giving us a 7/4 lead. Third third Now we had to hold onto our lead, but unfortunately Ampleforth got 2 quick tries, which put Yarm under some pressure. After a good catch and a couple of good passes Tom scored after having run the length of the pitch. Lucas scored 3 really athletic tries, running ¾ of the pitch. When the full time whistle went we had won 11 tries to 6. Some good tackling by Jack, Jake, Felix, Will, Ali and Theo. Some good, strong runs by Zach, Oli, Matty H and Matthew R. Overall a great performance from the team. Well done lads and let’s get another win next week! By Dan de la Motte
