Yarm School Girls-U15B vs  B tennis finals
On: Thursday, 05 Oct 2017
Venue: Away

Both our U13 and U15 were crowned County Champions in the Summer so the Lawn Tennis association has set up a day of finals for all Division 2 winners which we attended on Thur 5th Oct. Due to House Drama we were restricted with our selection but it meant we could include more tennis players and go into our depth of tennis for this tournament. There was lots of tennis during the day and despite being a high standard we certainly competed.

The U15's team of Annie Pickard (whom was celebrating her 15th birthday!), Chalrotte Walker, Emily Kitson and Katie Dent lost to Harrogate Girls' 2-6, 1-6, 1-6 and 6-7. They then drew RGS Newcastle in the 3rd/4th play off and enjoyed a much closer set of games. Annie won 6-2, Charlotte lost 3-6, Emily lost 1-6 and Katie won 6-2. It was frustrating to lose both doubles 6-3, 6-2 as these were certainly winable games.

The U13's Phoebe Richardson, Poppy Gratton, Izzy Drummond and Lottie Dean were drawn against a strong GSAL team who all had higher ratings than our 4. Credit to our girls who stuck at it and didn't give GSAL anything but the quality told in the end. Phoebe who was playing a rated player of 8.2 when she is a 10;2 and she really made the game competitive which was excellent to see. The scores for the four were in order, 3-6, 2-6, 2-6 and 0-6. Both doubles then went down 1-6 and 0-6.

Overall I was super proud of the 8 girls and it is always nice to hear positive comments coming my way about their attitude on court and behaviour during the day. Yarm girls always give 100% and that is want we ask. Thank you to the girls for a lovely day out playing tennis and well done for getting to this regional final.
