Girls’ mini netball tour to Shropshire

It was a pleasure to take 26 keen and enthusiastic girls’ to Shropshire over the weekend. We split the group into three groups with all teams enjoying a lot of competitive netball as well as a host of other activities on site at Condover Hall. Schools were from Lancashire, Surrey, Hertfordshire, West Midlands and Glostershire so it was lovely to go toe to toe with schools renowned for their netball prowess.

The weather was super which helped create lovely conditions to play netball and the atmosphere was great. After a fierce morning of competition for all 3 teams the girls were allowed to use on site archery, outward bound type activities, a cinema and its very own laser quest! Miss Howell enjoyed this laser quest and literally took every member of the party out! The silent disco was extremely popular on Saturday night also.

There were a lot of other Independent Schools participating in the competition and all teams had wins along the way. The U14’s played 10 matches over the two days and won all matches. They scored 98 goals and conceded just 15, what brilliant statistics. They beat St Marys from Wilshire (last years’ winners) and were then crowned JCA Netball champions for 2014. What an achievement.

The U13’s won 11, drew 1 and got to the final but were pipped at the post by Sacred Hearts from Greater London. The Girls’ were devastated having already beaten them in the pool stage. We then had a mixture of 2nd and 3rd years making up our 3rd team and they had some very close encounters indeed.

Overall it was a great experience for all. As always it was a pleasure to take such a good bunch away and this is a trip we would like to repeat next year. Details to follow after Easter.

My thanks to Miss Bownass and Miss Howell for accompanying the trip and Woodside North East Property Ltd for sponsoring the tour.

Miss Cottrell.
